Anniversary Blanket Introduction And Part 1
Anniversary Blanket
Celebrating 10 Years of Stitches

This year we are celebrating 10 years of projects on the channel Ophelia Talks Crochet and I have taken a look at what we have made over the years. We have created blankets, wearables, small items, useful things and fun items. But mainly what I liked about designing every single project is the fact that with crochet you only use a handful of stitches but combine those stitches in different ways and you will be able to make the most unique looks, the most unique projects and the most unique blankets.
For this blanket I am going to be looking at some of those wonderful stitch combinations that I came up with throughout the 10 years and I am going to let them feature once again in our blanket, but not just like that. I am going to pour them into a very special square: the Anna square.
It is the square that my grandma Anna loved making! She must've made hundreds and hundreds of these squares!
She really loved making this square and when I was younger and I saw her making the squares I knew that a blanket was ‘in the making’ and she very often gifted them to friends and family whenever there was a new baby.
To me this is quite an iconic crochet item so I wanted to use this square and redesign some of my stitches that we have used in the past to fit within the shape of this square.
We will be reusing some of the stitches we have done over the last 10 years like e.g. the Autumn Walk blanket, the Greenway Crochet-A-Long, the Lizzie blanket, the Miss Potter cardigan and the Venice cardigan. I have redesigned the stitches used in those projects to fit into the shape of the Anna Square.
I have also looked at the colours we have used over the 10 years in these particular blankets projects and wearables and these are the colours we are using here in our Anniversary Blanket.
With this blanket we are looking back over 10 years of stitches but at the same time we are on the threshold of a new era, and I am looking forward to what that will bring.
The blanket will consist of 54 squares and in each part you will be making 6 of the same square in a number of different colours. There are 11 parts to this blanket: 9 squares, 1 joining and 1 border.
