Jewels Of The Nile: Luxor
This week we are crocheting our way to Luxor, a city in southern Egypt famous for its ancient Egyptian ruins, including the temples of Karnak and Luxor, and the Valley of the Kings where the tombs of many pharaohs were discovered.
Week 2 Luxor
Name of the stitch: Double Crown of the Pharaohs
Multiple: 10 + 2
Hook: use your usual hook for DK
Luxor x
CH1, turn, 1DC in the first 2 sts, *CH1, sk 2, place 1DC, 3CH,1DC in the next st, CH1, sk2, 1DC in the next 3 st*, repeat *-* two times in total, *CH1, sk 3, place 1DC, 3CH,1DC in the last st of the shell, CH1, sk3, 1DC in the next 3 st*, * repeat until you have 18 V-stitches on your row, then CH1, sk 2, place 1DC, 3CH,1DC in the next st, CH1, sk2, 1DC in the next 3 st, CH1, sk 2, place 1DC, 3CH,1DC, in the next st, CH1, sk 3, 1DC in the last 2 sts. (20 V-stitches)
Luxor 1
CH1, turn, 1DC in the first 2 sts, CH 1, *CH1, place 1DC, 3CH,1DC on top of the DC in the row below, CH1, skipping the first 2 DCs of the shell, place 1DC on top of each of the three middle sts of the shell below*, repeat *-* to end, CH1, 1DC 3CH 1DC on top of the DC, CH2, 1DC in the last 2 st. (20 V-stitches)
Luxor 2
CH1, turn, 1DC in the first st, *CH1, 7DC in the 3CHSP, CH1, 1DC on top of the middle DC of the 3 DCs in the row below*, repeat *-* to end, at the end of the row, CH1, 7DC in the 3CHSP, CH1, 1DC on the last st. (20 shells)
Luxor 3
CH1, turn, 1DC, CH2, 1DC in the 1st st, *CH1, skipping the first 2 DCs of the shell, 1DC on top of each of the three middle sts of the shell below, CH1, place 1DC, CH3, 1DC on top of the DC below located between the shells*, repeat *-* to end, to finish CH1, 1DC on top of each of the three middle sts of the shell below, CH1, place 1DC, CH2, 1DC into the last st. (20 3DC groups)
Luxor 4
CH1, turn, 1DC in the first st, 3DC into the CHSP of the first V-stitch, *CH1, 1DC on top of the middle of the 3DCs in the row below, CH1, 7DCs into the 3CHSP*, repeat *-* to end, CH1, 1DC on top of the middle 3 DCs of the shell in the row below, CH1, 3DCs into the CHSP of the last V-stitch, 1DC on top of the last st (19 shells and 2 half shells)
