LIZZIE BLANKET CAL WEEK 6A: MR DARCY

LIZZIE BLANKET CAL WEEK 6A: MR DARCY

Please note

We are going to use the colours we have the most leftovers of, apart from the slipstitch row, where I opted for an inconspicuous colour.

Take your time, do not rush this part, it will be worth it!

Pattern

Needed: 4 stitchmarkers

Step 1: Slipstitch all around

Using Mocha, slipstitch all around the blanket, placing your slipstitches into the outermost stitch on the long sides and under the Vs on the top side (or just below it, but do it the same way along this side!) and pick up the leftover strand on the bottom side of your blanket (or just above it, but do it the same way along this side!).

Designate which stitches will be your corner stitches with a stitch marker. These should be as much in the corners as possible. Take your time to do this, certainly when doing the long sides and remember, less is more.

I took 3.5 hours to work my way round and I used 5g of yarn.

I finished my round with an invisible weave in under the first st.

Step 2: Back Border

Colours used

Sage, Storm Blue, Parchment and Lincoln

Make sure the blanket is facing you with the one strand of the slipstitch towards you.

Row 1: Using Sage, make a SK, starting anywhere on the blanket, YO, and insert your hook under the back bump of the slipstitch and do a HDC (=STHDC), then continue by placing 1HDC all around the blanket under every back bump. Twisting your hook might help to get under it.

When you meet the slipstitch in the corners, you do 2HDC 1CH 2HDC in that slipstitch.

SS to close the round.

Again it took a considerable amount of time to make this round as picking up under the back bump which is showing on this side is quite hard and you might have to twist your hook to get under it.

Row 2: CH2, 1 DC in each stitch all the way round, corners are made up of 2DC 1CH 2DC placed in the CHSP of the previous row. SS to close the round.

Row 3: in Storm Blue, make a SK, starting with a STHDC, place 1HDC in each stitch all the way round, corners are made up of 2HDC 1CH 2HDC placed in the CHSP of the previous row. Fasten off the yarn.

Row 4: in Parchment , make a SK, starting with a STDC, place 1DC in each stitch all the way round, corners are made up of  2DC 1CH 2DC placed in the CHSP of the previous row. Fasten off the yarn.

Row 5: in Lincoln, make a SK, starting with a STHDC, place 1HDC in each stitch all the way round, corners are made up of 2HDC 1CH 2HDC placed in the CHSP of the previous row. Fasten off the yarn.
