Odyssey Mosaic Blanket Crochet-A-Long Video 10
Week 6 B
Video 10
With the back of the blanket facing you, working in a colour you have plenty left over from, or doing each round in a different colour. When making your colour choice for round 1, make sure you consider how this will show through when looking at the front of the blanket. I decided to do my whole back border in cream. Or you could do alternate colours, but make sure Round 1 is the same colour as Round 1 on the Front border.
Back Border
Round 1
SK, starting with a STST, place 2FPDC around each dc post on the top and base of the blanket and 2FPDC around 2 CHs on the sides of the blanket, in the corners place 2CH. SS to close the round, do not cut off the yarn but start Round 2
Tip Do this very tightly so you do not get a wavy border, using the same hook size as for week 6A
Round 2
CH2,1DC in each st around
For the corners place 1DC 2CH 1DC around the CHSP of the previous round
SS to close the round
Round 3 - 4 - 5
CH2, 1HDC in each st around
For the corners place 1HDC 2CH 1HDC around the CHSP of the previous round
SS to close the round
At this point, count the number of stitches you have for each side on the front border and use round 6 on this back border as an opportunity to ensure that the number of stitches are the same for each side (fudge if you need to by adding a few stitches or doing a few less stitches). Doing it in this round will make round 7 easier!
Round 6
CH1, 1SC in each st around
For the corners place 1SC 2CH 1SC around the CHSP of the previous round
SS to close the round and cut off yarn.
Round 7
Turn over your blanket so the front is facing you again
SK, starting in a corner, going round the CHSP of both the back and front border, starting with a STST, place 3SC around the CHSP, then picking up the inner loops (Back loop from the stitch on the front border and front loop from the stitch on the back border) from the adjacent stitches from the front and the back borders, create SC to close the border, along all the sides.
For the corners place 3SC around the two CHSP to join them.
SS to close the round.
‘Sew’ in your last end by pulling it into the border with your hook.
