Step into the colourful world of Tbilisi with this brand new Streets of Tbilisi Crochet Along (CAL) by Ophelia Talks Crochet. Inspired by the architecture, textures, and lively colours of Georgia’s historic capital, this crochet blanket project transforms the charm of the city into stitches, colourwork, and texture.
Walking through Tbilisi feels like stepping into a living patchwork of colour. Wooden balconies hang above winding streets, painted houses climb the hillsides in turquoise, terracotta, rose and green, and historic buildings show layers of craftsmanship through arches, brickwork and decorative facades.
This crochet project captures that spirit.
Each section of the blanket reflects a piece of the city’s architecture. Bold colour changes represent painted houses, while clusters, textured stitches, raised stitches and openwork patterns echo balconies, brickwork and arches found throughout Tbilisi’s streets.

To make this project as enjoyable as possible, we have created a carefully curated yarn pack containing 15 balls of DK yarn in vibrant colours.
The palette reflects the colours seen throughout Tbilisi. Together these colours recreate the visual rhythm of the city's balconies, painted walls, and historic streets.
The Streets of Tbilisi Crochet Along Yarn Pack is available in two yarn options:
Stylecraft Special DK
A favourite among crocheters worldwide, Stylecraft Special DK is soft, durable and easy to work with. It produces a beautiful stitch definition and is ideal for textured crochet projects.
Wendy Supreme DK
Wendy Supreme DK is another excellent premium acrylic yarn with a smooth finish and excellent colour clarity. It works beautifully with textured stitches and is a great value alternative.
Both yarns are DK weight acrylic and produce the same finished blanket.
Streets of Tbilisi Crochet Along Schedule
The crochet along begins:
17 April – Week 1 release
A new section is released every Friday at 6pm GMT.
The project runs for six weeks, allowing you to build your blanket step by step.
Weeks 1–5
Create the textured body of the blanket using a mix of stitches inspired by Tbilisi’s architecture.
Week 6
Complete the project with a clever enclosed border, meaning no ends need to be woven in.
FAQ – Streets of Tbilisi Crochet Along
When does the CAL start?
The Streets of Tbilisi Crochet Along begins 17 April with a new section released every Friday at 6pm GMT.
How long does the CAL run?
The crochet along runs for six weeks, with the final border completed in Week 6.
What yarn do I need?
You will need 15 balls of DK yarn. The official colour palette is available as the Streets of Tbilisi CAL Yarn Pack in:
• Stylecraft Special DK
• Wendy Supreme DK
Is there a difference between Stylecraft and Wendy?
Both yarns are DK weight premium acrylic and work perfectly for the project.
The main difference is price, not quality or colour.
What hook size should I use?
Anja uses a 3.5 mm crochet hook for this project, even though the yarn is typically recommended for a 4 mm hook.
This helps create better stitch definition for the textured patterns.
Is the pattern free?
Yes.
The written pattern will be available for free on the Ophelia Talks Crochet blog for 6 months.
After the CAL ends, a beautifully formatted downloadable version will be available to purchase.
Are there video tutorials?
Yes.
Each weekly section has a full step-by-step video tutorial on the Ophelia Talks Crochet YouTube channel.
What crochet terminology is used?
The pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
Do I need to crochet at the same pace?
Not at all.
You can crochet week by week with the community or complete the project at your own pace.
Do I need to weave in ends?
No.
The project includes an enclosed border technique in Week 6, which hides the yarn ends inside the border.
What size blanket does this make?
The main version creates a single bed size blanket, but alternative sizes are included.

I absolutely loved crocheting this! The pattern/videos were extremely easy to follow. I loved working with the yarn colors selected! The shipping to Missouri was very quick with zero issues. I plan to purchase a few more kits in the near future!

Another beautiful yarn pack! I have finished several blankets from Anjas selection - Windermere, Anniversary, Vintage - this one is special because of the extra wide border which does take its time. The instruction videos paired with the written pattern guarantee a perfect outcome, even for unexperienced crocheters. The customer service was excellent too, as I had some mailing problems. I was fortunate enough to see the finished blanket before it took the journey to Tiblisi. The colors and the stiches in this CAL were once again wonderful. I love the color combinations. I have completed quite a few Ophelia Talks Crochet projects and started doing so as very much a beginner. Anya’s video tutorials are so easy to follow and the results have been well beyond what I thought I was capable of! I buy the kits from them and even delivered to Australia it is far more cost effective than buying here. The turn around from payment to receipt of goods is also excellent considering the distance. Probably the loveliest selection of colours of all the blankets so far. What really sets off all the other colours is the use of turquoise, which seems to light up the whole piece. I’m assuming my rating means 5 star!
The yarn pack is a great deal with quality yarn and beautifully curated colors. Shipping costs, even to distant destinations, are very reasonable and delivery is fast. I loved this Cal I don’t really think of I can find the words and feelings this adventure gave me, the excitement of waiting for the next video to see this awesome city. I loved all the colors they all went together so well and the stitches just flowed with the video and the sites that were shown I felt like I to walked The Streets of Tbilisi. I used the Wendy packet it really is an incredible yarn. It shows the definition of your stitches, it’s soft and in case you have to frog it it’s pretty forgiving it doesn’t spilt which is great. When I heard and saw your streets in Tbilisie, on your channel, I fall in love with this project as for the colorful blanket, changing in each row, not too complicated and with easy and clear explanations as well as thanks to YouTube but also writing them. I choosed the Stylecraft pack, receive it very quickly even to France. I take so much delightful. It'll be a true surprise for a Christmas present. Thanks so much. Any regret. I have done quite a few cals from Ophelia talks crochet and Dirk does a very quick turnaround to when you buy the pack from him. When I receive the parcel from Dirk, I am never been disappointed in the quality of the package and the yarn that is the parcel. I have always been so happy with the results of the blankets. Anya works extremely hard on planning the cals and makes sure that the videos and the written pattern are spot on. Anja always takes you on a colourful 6 week journey while teaching you new stitches or stitch combinations which are clearly explained in her easy to follow tutorials. Just made the Streets of Tbilisi blanket. It was a joy to crochet. The colors are beautiful and the Stylecraft Special dk yarn I chose is lovely to work with. The video tour of Tbilisi on the tutorial was a bonus to watch. The city is beautiful and Anja has matched the color and feel of the city perfectly! The stitches are easy to learn yet they make the blanket look special and intricate. The price of the yarn pack , for me, is excellent and more economical than I can buy in my own country of Canada.
I have crochet several CALS, each one has been an adventure and have enjoyed each one, different colours, very inspiring and easy to follow as Anja's tutorials are excellent. I absolutely love Wendy yarns, so soft and manageable. I recommend buying any CAL pack. The latest one Streets of Tbilisi is one of my favourites and the combination of colours are just amazing.
